- prevent children suffering significant harm as a result of cruelty
- protect children who are at risk of such harm
- help children who have suffered cruelty to overcome its effects
- work to protect children from further harm
- Call 0808 800 5000 free for the Child Protection Helpline (0808 100 2524 in Wales) - a 24 hour service that provides counselling, information and advice to anyone concerned about ill treatment, abuse or a child at risk.

- The helpline is staffed by experience counsellors.
- They listen and speak to you in confidence.
- If they need to, they will then contact social services or the police to protect a child at risk.
- Helpline counsellors can also advise on general child-care and family problems.
- Fully qualified bilingual telephone counsellors are available on the Welsh numbers from 11am to 6:30 pm from Monday to Thursdays.
- Either a male or a female counsellor on request.
